Close to nature -- Nanaimo style

The above duck is clearly used to being fed by visitors to the viewing platform at Oliver Woods. The little marsh area is currently home to a couple of dozen Mallards and a pair of Ring-necked ducks.

It is a popular spot with the youngsters where you can feed the ducks with seed purchased in the centre. This little lady was within 3 - 4 feet and while cautious, clearly had her eye on a few seeds on the platform which she finally felt brave enough to eat.

  1. Before the clearing took place it was a favourite place for my Grandchildren to go and feed the ducks with feed supplied by Oliver Woods staff.
