Interim Nanaimo City Manager To Be Selected

Council create Executive Hiring Committee
to oversee permanent candidate search

A meeting held Tuesday morning of Nanaimo's City Council has established a two part process for filling the organization's lead administrative role.

As the first step, Council will appoint an Interim City Manager following which the second step, searching for a permanent candidate to fill the position, will commence.  To oversee the recruiting process, an Executive Hiring Committee has been created whose membership includes all members of Council.

The process of filling the position of Interim City Manager will consider both internal and external candidates.

The Committee will reconvene in approximately one week's time to consider the names put forward.

Individuals wishing to be a candidate for the role of Interim City Manager are encouraged to visit the jobs section of the City's website - Request for Expression of Interest (Interim City Manager).

"Council had a productive and thorough meeting this morning which concluded with a clear, open and fair process for filling both the interim and permanent City manager positions.  As the first step, we look forward to reviewing the names of all individuals who express their interest in applying for the interim role."  -   Bill McKay Mayor
