Knappett Industries is the contractor doing the work of removing and reconstructing the seawall walkway and parking facilities at Departure Bay. The completed project will see a walkway with less of a grade, new street lights and new lights along the walkway.
The storm drains on Loat St. and Departure Bay Rd. will also be replaced at the same time. Millennia Research Ltd. and Snuneymuxw First Nation will be monitoring the work for any archaeological finds discovered during the construction process.
The estimated cost of the project is $820,000 and is expected to be complete by Mar. 1/16.
