Locomotion At Anchor Off Nanaimo

LOCOMOTION sits at anchor

If you have been down at Departure Bay you will have noticed one of the large vessels sitting at anchor in the waters off of Newcastle Island.

The ship is waiting it's turn to go into Vancouver Port and is a 180m bulk carrier under a Liberian flag and it's home port is Monrovia.

Ships sitting at anchor off Nanaimo are subject to inspection by the Nanaimo Port Authority to insure nothing is discharged into our waters. Sometimes the 'marine parking lot' can be host to several vessels either delivering to or loading up in the Port of Vancouver.
