Male arrested for pointing firearm
A 33 year old male is in police custody after allegedly pointing a
firearm at two individuals early Saturday morning. The male was arrested several
hours later without incident and the firearm was seized.
At approximately 9 am on Saturday January 30, Nanaimo RCMP responded to a report that a male had pointed a firearm at
two individuals, 3 hours earlier, at a home in the south end of Nanaimo.
Additional information was provided to officers that the male may be in a
vehicle travelling in the north end of Nanaimo. A description of the vehicle was
provided and it located and stopped near the intersection of Highway 19 and
Mallard Way. The suspect male was found in the vehicle and arrested for
firearms offences. The vehicle was searched but the firearm was not
located.
Officers continued with their investigation and later attended to a home
on Woodhouse St. The home was searched and a firearm was located and seized. The
investigation is continuing.
A bail hearing was held later in the afternoon which resulted in the
suspect being remanded in custody to Monday February 1 at which time he will
appear before a Nanaimo Provincial court judge.
