Boy Scout Hut B&E $1500 Gear Stolen

Break and Enter to Scout Hut

The Boy Scout Hut located on Comox Rd was recently broken into with thieves making off with over $1500 of camping gear and supplies. The Scout Hut is located at 445 Comox Road, just west of the Tim Horton's on Wallace St.

The break in was reported overnight on Thursday March 3 .  It appears the main door may have been left unlocked allowing entry to the building. Thieves then used bolt cutters to remove padlocks to individual lockers and the storeroom, where the camping supplies were stored.

Taken were 4 green Northern Escape tents marked with "1st Nanaimo", a Cuisinart 8 piece stacking pot set in a cloth carrying bag , black backpack with a first aid kit and a black plastic toolbox with a red handle.

"The loss of these items is a huge setback for the local Scout group. Sadly, local outings will be on hold or cancelled until such time fund raising efforts are commenced to replace the stolen items" said Constable Gary O'Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.
