Esquimalt First Nation artist - Darlene Gait
Here it is! The stunning new Coast Salish artwork for the new BC Ferries Salish Orca vessel. The winning design by Esquimalt First Nation artist, Darlene Gait was revealed at a special ceremony at The One Moon Gallery in Esquimalt this morning.
This will be the 1st of 3 new Coast Salish designs for the new Salish Class vessels. The Salish Orca will replace the 50-year old Queen of Burnaby on the Comox – Powell River route later this year.
As reported on Nanaimo Info blog last November this vessel was built at Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. in Gdansk, Poland.
