Fatal Accident Bruce St. and Albion

Fatal pedestrian MVA

The Nanaimo RCMP is on the scene of a fatal pedestrian MVA that occurred at approximately 6:25 am on Tuesday March 1, 2016, on Bruce St at Albion, near the Value Village. 

The deceased is an adult female and the driver of the vehicle involved is an adult male. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police. Both north and south bound lanes on Bruce Ave, between Fourth St and Fifth St are closed. Motorists are asked to avoid this section of road while the investigation continues.

  1. I can admit that I almost hit a pedestrian (a kid) today in the rain. I was stupid but lucky enough to see him before anything disastrous happened. That alone was a wake up call for me to pay better attention in the rain etc. Seeing that someone did die today, and what almost happened with me....this really can happen to anyone. Be careful out there.

  2. How many fatalities have occurred at this crosswalk in the last ten years? There seems to be a problem that needs to be fixed here, or is life so cheap in this community?
