Nanaimo Adopts New Accessibility Icon

ICON will replace existing signs in Nanaimo

Councillor Pratt's motion was adopted by council which will see the new accessibility icon replace existing signs around Nanaimo.

The point was made it is not intended to replace all existing unless they are up for replacement or are in fact new signs. The motion follows a presentation recently encouraging Council to adopt the new icon as it presents a more favourable image of someone with a disability.

The motion was passed unanimously by Council.

  1. I am so very happy that my work that I first started at VIU, then the Nanaimo Disability Resource Centre was a total success. My next goal is to make it BC wide!
