Band-tailed Pigeons Have Returned

Over the past few days the feeder has hosted as many as 7 Band-tailed pigeons, having returned from their winter migration. I am not sure where these ones will have spent winter but if memory serves, they were around pretty late in the season last year.

They are quite timid, taking little to put them to flight but they are pleasant occasional visitors to the feed pan. I say occasional visitors, as they can be quite the little pigs if not disturbed. You can tell by the size of their crop just how long they have been dining undisturbed.

I guess an extra bag of seeds will be in order at this rate.
