Jordan Bateman of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation considers Mayor McKay's trip to China as a waste of taxpayers dollars. Taking information from a News Bulletin article, Bateman notes that McKay spent over $5,000 on the trip in addition, the NEDC spent another $10,000 on the trip. All funds coming from Nanaimo taxpayers.

    Any face time with potential investors is 'not' a waste of money. Considering the amount spent on some garbage incentives back home, I figure the mayor's trip was very worthwhile.

    i.e. free ashtray anyone ? Nanaimo will give it to you
