Search & Rescue Training Exercise

Nanaimo Search and Rescue
conduct weekend training exercise

The Nanaimo RCMP, on behalf of Nanaimo Search and Rescue (NSAR) wish to advise the public of a training exercise commencing the morning of Saturday April 9th and continuing to mid-afternoon on Sunday April 10th.

The exercise will be held in the Mt Benson area and will involve upwards of 40 NSAR personnel as well as a helicopter. As the training exercise continues throughout the night on Saturday the 9th, lights may be visible to the public and there may be small controlled campfires.

If an incident needs to be verified, please call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345 and NSAR will be contacted to verify if it is part of their exercise or an unrelated event.
