Wear red & white to celebrate

Celebrate our Nation's 149th birthday with the City of Nanaimo on July 1. Canada Day festivities will be held in Maffeo Suton Park from 11:00 am until 3:30 pm.

It's a great day for all ages to stay in town and show their national and community pride. Everyone can enjoy the Celebration of Flags and Opening Ceremonies, multicultural food fair, Bowen Road Farmers’ Market, interactive booths, birthday cake and live entertainment throughout the day.

New this year is the Cultural Showcase Stage featuring cultural performances by local talent.

Live entertainment by The Midnights, Doctors of Rock 'n Roll, Little Crow, Jake West and Craig McKee "The Con Man".

Parking at Maffeo Sutton Park will not be available on Canada Day. Free parking options include all on-street City meters (2-hour limit), Bastion Street parkade, Harbour Front parkade, Port of Nanaimo Centre parkade and the Wallace and Wentworth parking lot.

  1. For those of us who are physically challenged, this lack of convenient parking is thoughtless!! A pick-up/drop-off Bus Service from/to each parking lot would sure be helpful!
