Dale Schulz - Nanaimo - "As He Sees It" - June 4/16

Lifelong Nanaimo resident, professional artist and illustrator Dale Schulz 'sees' much of Nanaimo many of us simply walk by without giving a second thought.

Through the eyes of an artist the everyday can become almost magical and with a few simple photos of his daily walks, Dale captures and shares some of that magic on his Facebook page.

The following is the most recent example of what Dale sees when he walks about our lovely seaside community many of us just take for granted.

Dale's Post - June 4/16
Indy and I took a short walk through Harewood this morning. I took my wife's 'point and shoot' camera along so that I could try to get some pictures of our walk. I'm not so sure this type of camera will work for me. I just can't find a way to control shutter speed, and the lens and zoom is a little iffy.

I'll take it along once or twice more and see if my shots with it will improve. I'm not too happy with this bunch, but here goes:

We started by walking to the site of the old Harewood COOP where I saw that almost the whole parking lot is fenced off now - I guess they are getting serious about developing the new Quality Foods store now!

On Bruce Avenue we saw cherries ripening; and we revisited the little Dogwood Tree behind 711 on 5th and Bruce.

On 5th I took shots of the old shed that was just razed on 5th across from the Liquor Store and Chicken Shop. Also shot the old tree there and a detail of the aging fence.

I shot the poppy in the alley between Winchester and Stirling Avenues.
