Dale Schulz Nanaimo - "As He Sees It" - June 5/16

Lifelong Nanaimo resident, professional artist and illustrator Dale Schulz 'sees' much of Nanaimo many of us simply walk by without giving a second thought.

Through the eyes of an artist the everyday can become almost magical and with a few simple photos of his daily walks, Dale captures and shares some of that magic on his Facebook page.

The following is the most recent example of what Dale sees when he walks about our lovely seaside community many of us just take for granted.

Dale's Post - June 5/16
Indy and I were out very early (for us) today. Good thing too - it is HOT out there. Even by 8:30 Indy and I were starting to feel it.

I'm shooting with Dyan's camera again today and trying my best to get a feel for this machine - and try to get the shots the way I like 'em.

On Needham Street we shot some of my favourites - California Poppies - and some favourite flowers on Irwin Street.

Downtown I shot a detail of the bronze compass inset into the tiles at the Port of Nanaimo; the Bastion; and some tugs in the harbour.

On the way home I got a nice picture of one of my favourite little houses - beside the tracks on Albert Street.

On Hecate Street a detail of the sign on the Chinese Freemason's building and a couple cards on the ground that I will accept as a sign that Dyan will sell some of my sign-paintings today at the Swap Meet in Parksville. The Ace of Diamonds signifies money and the Queen of Hearts translates into the woman I love. Trust me; I'm a gypsy!
