John Patkau: Work/Play Wed. June 8/16

John Patkau: Work/Play

12pm, Vancouver Island Conference Centre
As part of the Nanaimo Art Gallery exhibition Trusses, which explores relationships between art and architecture, John Patkau from Patkau Architects will present a lecture titled Work/Play.

The first part of the lecture will explore Patkau Architects' general design approach illustrated by a series of recently completed building projects and competitions commissioned by clients. The second part will focus on a series of ongoing research projects which in the main have been self-initiated. These projects focus on the spatial and structural implications of the direct manipulation of material to achieve innovative building forms.

The title of the presentation Work/Play reflects the strong duality in the nature of these two types of projects in terms of not only intention by also circumstance.

Tickets $10, available at Nanaimo Art Gallery, 250 754 1750
Included with RAIC Conference Registration
