Democracy Is Too Important To Leave To The Politicians
Do Your Civic Duty By Getting Informed and Getting Involved

If you say: " I'm too busy just trying to keep it together to get involved, consider that perhaps, if you were more involved you might not be having so much trouble keeping it together "!

You can view this Council Meeting Agenda here - - -  Agenda .

If you can't attend council meetings in person (preferred) you can watch regular council meetings on Shaw cable channel #4. You can also watch the meetings live on the city website using this link.

The regular city council meetings are the only ones broadcast live on either Shaw Cable or streaming video from the city website. The Committee of the Whole meetings, while not broadcast live are recorded and can be viewed on the city website HERE.

  1. I am very disgusted to see two Nanaimoites thrown first to the back of the bus last night, not having been moved up along with an unprecedented pitch by the Lantzville mayor on more, more water. Why Haime was even allowed to publicly speak at our council is beyond me. He no-doubt wanted an open forum to discredit our city and force its hand in their favour on more, more water.

Secondly, it was sad and painful to watch the two Nanaimo delegates cut off by the chair (Mayor McKay) saying they only had five minutes to speak - when indeed they had ten minutes. It takes a lot of gutts for a citizen to approach council, and totally unacceptable when the chair is incorrect and throws them and the flow into a tizzy.

Everyone needs to be treated equally. And this is a horrible miscarriage of procedures and democracy favouring an outsider - a Lantzville politician. The situation MUST be rectified immediately for the future.
    Disgusting.

  2. Nice list of mega project tax and spend strategic term priorities from this Council. What happened to concerns about taxes and ability to pay and full business cases? Oh I forgot, all that talk was merely to suck us into electing them.

  3. Yep. Council beat those citizen delegations up pretty well for daring to question them on little things like how do you even get Council to write back to you as a citizen?
