Beban Park Improvement Concept - Public Input

Public input sought
Open house - August 10/16

Residents wishing to share their input on an improvement concept for the central portion of Beban Park can do so at an upcoming open house. Based on the shared vision of six participating community organizations, the proposed concept creates a central gathering and recreation hub that incorporates multi-use facilities with improved pedestrian, cycling and vehicle accessibility and connectivity.

The open house will be held August 10 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm next to the Bowen Road Farmer's Market (2300 Bowen Road).  Residents are encouraged to stop by to share their thoughts and ideas. The proposed concept, information boards, staff and opportunities for input will be available at the open house on August 10 for the public's information and feedback.

The Nanaimo Equestrian Association, Vancouver Island Exhibition Society, Island Roots Market Cooperative and the Indigenous Peoples Place of Culture (Boys and Girls Club, Aboriginal Centre and Métis Nation) are the organizations invloved with the proposed concept.

"When the Beban Master Plan was adopted last year, working with community groups to create flexible spaces in the park for a variety of uses was a priority. I'm please to see these groups working together to make our park better for everyone to enjoy."   -   Councillor Ian Thorpe
