Dale Schulz - NANAIMO - 'As he sees it' - July 8/16

Lifelong Nanaimo resident, professional artist and illustrator Dale Schulz 'sees' much of Nanaimo many of us simply walk by without giving a second thought.

Through the eyes of an artist the everyday can become almost magical and with a few simple photos of his daily walks, Dale captures and shares some of that magic on his Facebook page.

The following is the most recent example of what Dale sees when he walks about our lovely seaside community many of us just take for granted.

Dale's Post - July 8/16

Hi Folks! Here are my photos from today's walk with Indy - Sorry that there were no pictures yesterday. That's the way it goes sometimes.

Anyway here we go!

First - the blackberries are starting to ripen and they are big and juicy this year! These ones are in my yard. Next some purple flowers on a bush on Park Avenue, and a favourite fire hydrant on Connaught Avenue.

In the harbour I got a shot of some traps on the dock and a couple tugboats.

As we walked the waterfront I took a shot of the Pacifica again with the Lighthouse Bistro to the left - what caught my eye this morning were the three 'slashes' of clouds up in the left-hand corner of this shot. I also took a picture of one of the old buildings on Front Street, from the park below.

As we made our way up to the Street Indy and I paused near the Bastion and the Cannons where I took a couple 'smiley-face' pictures of him. I think it's the particular brightness to the sky that makes him squint like that! I'm not sure which I like best so I'm posting both!

On Hecate Street I took a picture of one of the interesting apples on a small tree near the sidewalk. The apples were growing so close together that they were forming double and even triple-apples.
