RCMP investigating four car fires
The
Nanaimo RCMP is investigating four early morning car fires which destroyed all
of the vehicles causing an estimated $25,000 in damage.
Fire
crews and RCMP responded at approximately 3:30 am on Wednesday July 7th, to
a report of 3 vehicle fires near the turnabout on Lagoon Road at Polaris
Drive. Two vehicles were fully engulfed and one other sustained significant fire
damage. The heat from the fire also scorched several fence panels to a nearby
home. At 5:30 am a fourth car fire was reported on McGirr Road near Nintinat
Way. This vehicle was also destroyed.
One
of the vehicles at Pipers was found with the gas cap ajar and side door open
leading investigators to believe the fire may have been deliberately set.
Contact has been made with the registered owners and investigators will be going
door to door to look for any witnesses.
