Residents are invited to learn more about this $68,000,000 project which will upgrade the secondary treatment plant on Hammond Bay Rd.
The project has been in the planning stage for more than 10 years and the contract was awarded during a Special Board Meeting April 11/17.
The construction will be paid for through a combination of reserves, development cost charges and borrowing. Construction is set to begin in May 2017 and continue to December 2019.
It is not known what impact this project will have on the RDN tax requisition which impacts all Nanaimo taxpayers and has nothing to do with the budget being dealt with currently by city council.
