Taxes are the real issue ---- not housing costs

Governments at all levels will make much noise about the high cost of housing and how they are going to deal with it. The provincial government has introduced a typical socialist answer in the speculation tax grab. Arguably it will do nothing to impact the affordability of housing as all it will do is take some more money out of the marketplace and put it into the hands of government.

The carbon tax grab that the PM and others are so hot about is another example of just another tax that will do nothing to accomplish the excuse they are using to implement it.

As the following chart shows the real problem with affordable housing is not simply the market price of housing but the number of dollars governments are stealing from productive members of our society and taking away from our purchasing power on all levels.

The other reason housing is becoming unaffordable is because the Canadian economy is in such dire shape, it is not able to keep pace with rising costs on all fronts.

Don't expect to get anything but bafflegab from all the politicians running in the current provincial by-election as politicians of ALL stripes are only really interested in stealing and spending as much of YOUR money as you will let them get away with.
