John David Shepherd Wanted For Fraud

ARRESTED

Jordan David SHEPHERD is wanted on five counts of Fraud under $5000 from Nanaimo, one count of Fraud from Ladysmith and another Fraud charge stemming from New Westminster. All of the allegations occurred between February and August of 2017.

It is alleged SHEPHERD, who sometimes goes by the name "Dave ROFTER”, befriends women ranging in age from their mid twenties to early thirties, whom he meets in person, on social media or through “Plenty of Fish" a free dating site. Within in days, SHEPARD asks the female to deposit a cheque for him, in their account, for an amount ranging from $1000 to $1600, The cheque is written on his purported business account called "On the Rocks Surveying”.

SHEPHERD would often tell the women he either lost his bank card or he left it with a family member and could not access it. After the female cashes the cheque and withdraws the money from her account, SHEPHERD disappears. In all cases the women were later notified by their bank that “ On the Rocks Surveying” was not an account and that it did not even exist. Only then did they realize they had been duped.

"Some of the women who fell prey to SHEPARD have taken to social media to warn other women of his actions. We too wish to warn others and hopefully encourage any who have not come forward yet, to do so. SHEPHERD needs to held accountable for his actions," said Constable Gary O'Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.

Jordan David SHEPHERD  is from Nanaimo and may be in the Lower Mainland. He stands 6 ft. 1, weighs approximately 230 pounds and has blonde hair and blue eyes. SHEPHERD has a tattoo of a Crown on his right wrist and another of “No Regrets” on his right upper arm.

If you have information on the whereabouts of Jordan David SHEPHERD, please call the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com or call 1-800-222-8477.

Due Process .... A Thing Of The Past

Guilt by accusation
the order of the day

We are seeing the crumbling of our justice system one step at a time. This story relates to the PC candidate that quite likely could have been the next Premier of Ontario. That career was scuttled by nothing more than two anonymous accusations reported by a questionable 'news' source.

It is no longer a case of due process, but merely enough to convict if someone accuses you. This is a dangerous precedent in many ways. If you want to dispatch a political foe, all that is required is someone of questionable character (not too hard to find) who is willing to lie for a few bucks or ten seconds of fame and the 'news' media is all too happy to report salacious charges (good for ratings) which are impossible to recover from.

Locally, anyone running in local politics need be aware of this tactic as Nanaimo politics have become just about as down and dirty as anywhere, and I predict this next election will be pure blood sport complete with hired pens fueling the fire.

Nanaimo City Council and City Hall 2012

A Trip Down Memory Lane

While no one would argue that this current council under Bill McKay has been a harmonious one if we want to gauge their performance with past council it's a good idea to take a look back.

The following appeared in Nanaimo Info Blog in Dec. 2012 and as the title implied it was the Highlight Reel for the way that city council conducted business on behalf of Nanaimo taxpayers.

Each item is linked to the Nanaimo Info Blog article it refers to. While I only checked a few of the titles I found it of interest when comparing past and present council performance.

One could argue that back in 2012 the 'Three Amigos' who were the minority on council were incapable of causing the disruption that the two members of the minority on this council have been able to generate. Put another way the Three Amigos couldn't hold a candle to the Dynamic Duo when it comes to being able to be the authors of chaos

The following is a re-cap of articles from this blog which have appeared during 2012, all of which are related to city hall and how city staff and city council conduct the business of the city on behalf of the taxpayers.

Each item is linked directly to the full article as it appeared on this blog which I hope will make for a useful reference tool if you wish to do some research or to simply refresh your memory on a wide variety of city hall decisions which have a direct effect on all of our lives in this little piece of paradise.
