More Bureaucratic Spending

Ron Cantelon
Defends Conference

An article in the Daily Colonist points to the fact that both the Federal and Provincial governments seem to think that frugality is not for them.

An agriculture ministers 'retreat' at the upscale Brentwood Bay Lodge is costing taxpayers anywhere from $279 to $499 per night for accommodations only.

The article goes on to say that Cantelon initially said the conference is justified as the officials are doing important business.

Is it possible the same business could have been accomplished with some teleconferencing? Or is it really necessary to fly these officials from all over the country and put them up in lavish suites and feed them Atlantic lobster?

It truly seems the only purpose of politicians and bureaucrats is to spend as much of the taxpayers dollar as they possibly can.
