Mark Poisin Charged With Drug Trafficking

Perseverance paid off for the Nanaimo Crime Reduction Unit after apprehending a known drug dealer Friday night with a quantity of drugs.

Crime Reduction members waited patiently for an older model Chev Corsica to arrive from Vancouver onboard the Duke Point ferry on Friday the 11th.Their patience was rewarded later that night when the vehicle in question arrived and was promptly stopped by CRU members. Its occupants were arrested and a search of the vehicle located approximately four ounces of crystal methamphetamine and small amount of hashish. The 45 male driver and his 29 year old female passenger were both taken into custody.

“This is what our members do best. They target known criminal elements, develop a plan and put it into place ”said Constable Gary O’Brien, media spokesperson for the Nanaimo RCMP.

Mark POISIN of Port Alberni was remanded into custody will appear before a Provincial court judge today on charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act. His female passenger from Vancouver was later released on a Promise to Appear after a small quantity of hashish was located on her person. She will be making her first appearance in Nanaimo Provincial court on February 2 2010.
