City partners with non profit groups
City pays non-profit groups $50/km
The City of Nanaimo is inviting registered
non-profit groups to participate in a City wide litter picking program. The
Cleaner Community Partnership program will help groups raise funds and gain
recognition while making Nanaimo a cleaner, more attractive
community. In 2014 the program collected over 800 bags of litter.
The 2015 program is available for a limited number of
registered non-profit groups. Approved groups will be offered opportunities to
pick up litter along community streets twice in 2015, once in spring and once in
fall.
The City provides safety vests, trash bags, gloves,
road safety signs and collection and disposal of litter collected.
Participating organizations must appoint a minimum of
six volunteers per group who are at least 12 years old and provide insurance,
protective clothing, adult supervision and transportation. Supervisors will be
required to attend a scheduled orientation/safety training session provided by
the City.
To request an application: Email - Public.WorksInfo@nanaimo.ca , Call
250 758 522 or drop in to the Public Works Department on 2020 Labieux
Road. Applications must be received by 23rd March.
