Dale Schulz - Nanaimo - "As He Sees It" - June 9/16

Lifelong Nanaimo resident, professional artist and illustrator Dale Schulz 'sees' much of Nanaimo many of us simply walk by without giving a second thought.

Through the eyes of an artist the everyday can become almost magical and with a few simple photos of his daily walks, Dale captures and shares some of that magic on his Facebook page.

The following is the most recent example of what Dale sees when he walks about our lovely seaside community many of us just take for granted.

Dale's Post - June 9/16
Good Day Folks!

Here are the pictures from my walk with Indy this morning.

Today we headed into town pretty much as the crow flies and shot a bunch of stuff.

For the most part I was trying to get close up shots to work for me with this loaner camera.
Before we left the house I got to practise a little macro work with a very pretty snail outside the house.

We crossed Robins Field - on the corner of Park Avenue and 5th - where I took pictures of the temporary fencing the City puts up for baseball season.

As we crested 5th Street heading for Victoria Road I spied a CPR lock on a box where the E&N line crosses 5th. I don't know why but I like these little CPR locks!

Walking down Victoria Road I noticed the dramatic sky over the water and shot a picture at Finlayson Street - then one of my favourite old houses - on Victoria Road and Selby Street. Still on Victoria Road I took a picture of a couple Chicory flowers - these are one of my favourite 'weeds' - tough; edible and long flowering.

To finish up I took a photo of some nice rusty pipes beside Pioneer Plaza (downtown) and a shot of the cannon in the plaza.
