Prof. Steve Keen Explains Solution To Current Financial Mess
If you have observed the last number of years and how the world leaders seem to be groping around in the dark when it comes to dealing with the juggernaut that is the current financial system, you have likely concluded that it is the same brain trust that got us into this pickle, we are trusting to get us out of this pickle.
How's that go ? Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice....shame on me. It takes nearly half an hour to listen to all that Steve Keen has to say about our current financial fix, and while what he says sounds radical you will find that what he offers is actually explained in the Old Testament of the Bible. That is his reference to the 'Jubilee' method of dealing with debt. At first glance it would appear that God knew in advance the only way to keep control over the financial affairs of man was to wipe the slate clean every 50 years and start all over again. Seems our 50 years is just about up!
There were times in history when this advice was taken and in fact they did burn the books of debt, which is the only reason those societies weren't faced with the fiasco we are presently faced with. The last major mess of the last century gave the fertile ground of chaos and discontent that allowed Hitler to put everyone to work.
So, if you have the time, give a listen, but don't expect any of our 'leaders' to embrace the concept anytime soon, either because they are corrupted by the system or the whole thing is really well above their pay grade.
