Nanaimo Welcome Sign Proposal

The story recently of a couple visiting from Belgium having their $15,000 bike stolen from their motor home while visiting Colliery Dam Park prompted the above suggestion.

It should be posted at all City of Nanaimo highway entrances and in all city parks and facilities.

Nanaimo A Costly Place To Buy Gas

Nanaimo Drivers Must Be Idiots

At least the local gas cartel must think so based on their pricing policy. We usually are the highest price on Vancouver Island but this morning we were even higher than Vancouver.

The following comes from Gas Buddy, June 5 at 7:00 am:

Nanaimo 153.9
Vancouver 139.9
Calgary 100.9
Toronto 110.0

The GREENdp policy reflected at the pump.

Remember, that the NDP and Mr. Horgan did NOT win the last election and must pander to the Green's under Mr. Weaver if they wish to stay in power. So, we have this foolish obstruction of a major Canadian economic driver as they do everything they can to kill the pipeline.

One might think that the First United Church of the Green Screamers is a bigger threat to Canada than radical Islam ever could be.

D-Day June 6 1944 - 75 Years Ago

More than 14,000 Canadian forces landed or parachuted into France on D-Day. The Royal Canadian Navy contributed 110 warships and 10,000 sailors and the RCAF contributed 15 fighter and fighter-bomber squadrons to the assault.

Total Allied casualties numbered more than 10,000 on D-Day including 1074 Canadians of which 359 were killed in action.

The Normandy campaign which had been expected to last a few weeks ended up taking months and not concluding until August 21 1944. It was then that Canadian forces played an important role in the closing of the Falaise Gap. This finally contained the German forces and saw the capture of 150,000 German soldiers. It was now possible for the Allies to pursue the Germans into the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

Among the Allied casualties in the Normandy campaign were more than 18,700 Canadians with 5,000 Canadians losing their lives.
