The above is a screengrab from a Facebook group 'Stealing Nanaimo' posted on July 10. As stated in the post a couple visiting our fair city on their boat were shopping in our delightful downtown at Port Place. While there, adding those much sought after tourist dollars to our fair city they had their bikes stolen which were locked to a bike rack in broad daylight.
Welcome to Nanaimo ............... perhaps our local constabulary can get serious about relieving folk of their bolt cutters as clearly there is NO legitimate reason to have one on your person.
Perhaps our city council and health authority might make a concerted effort to do something to protect the average, law abiding citizen rather than making Nanaimo more and more accommodating to the criminals drawn to our ever growing drug culture.
