"MASK MOUTH" - Smelly breath from mask wearing

Bad breath, gum disease and tooth decay
side effects of masking

The New York Post reports dentists have coined a new phrase to describe what they are now seeing among their patients.

"Mask Mouth" is being used to describe the smelly breath result of wearing face masks for extended time.

In addition to the noticeable bad breath, an increase in gum disease and tooth decay is also seen as an unintended consequence of the current masking mandates.

Dry mouth which is a side effect of mask wearing creates the perfect environment for the growth of bacteria which saliva normally combats. This is the result of breathing through the mouth instead of the nose.
