Councillor Kipp made the point at the recent council meeting that people who can afford to be prepared with food, water and other emergency supplies for 7 days instead of the popular 72 hrs. are wise to do so.
His comment was prompted by observations of what has happened during the recent disaster in Haiti and how long it is taking for relief to actually get through during a major event.
Haiti is a good example of what happens to people when they depend on 'the government' to take care of them. Remember it is the same bright minds who have narrowly missed leading the world into financial ruin who are in charge of disaster relief.
