Nanaimo Remembrance Day Service

Cenotaph Church Street Nanaimo

The War Memorial on Church Street will be the site of Remembrance Day services, Wednesday Nov. 11/09

Royal Canadian Branch 10 Legion, Royal Canadian Legion Mount Benson Branch 256 and members of the American Legion from Bremerton Wash. will gather on Church St.

At 10:50 the Canadian and US National Anthems will be sung followed by a prayer of Remembrance led by Archdeacon Brian Evans. This will be followed by a gun salute at 11:00 am, the playing of the Last Post and two minutes of silence to honour those who have died in war.

Placing of wreaths, the benediction and blessing, playing of God Save The Queen and the march past and salute round out the ceremony.

Locally, Branch 10 has three veterans in their 90's who will be in attendance.

A tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country can be seen using this LINK.
