Remembrance Day Nanaimo 2009

The weather was cooperative and while it was a chilly fall day there were clear skies and not even a sprinkle of rain.

There was an excellent turn out for the ceremony at the Cenotaph and it seemed to me there were far more young people than in previous years. It has been suggested that with our troops on the ground in Afghanistan the reality of men and women putting themselves in harms way is now a current matter and not some piece of history of ages long ago.

We all need reminding that the extremely comfortable, peaceful and abundant lifestyle we have enjoyed for over fifty years now, came at an awful price for many thousands long ago, and is still being paid today on distant shores.

Lest We Forget
