Falling Loonie = tourist invasion to Vancouver Island?
Expect an invasion of tourists and lots of 'Staycations'
Picture a big welcome mat on the Canadian border.
That’s pretty much what foreign visitors and the domestic travel industry sees when the loonie takes a tumble.
Down Victoria way the 207 cruise ships scheduled to come into Ogden Point can expect a bit more bang for the buck when they invade downtown Victoria.
Meanwhile in Nanaimo the 2 cruise ships scheduled to come into our new cruise ship terminal can also expect more bang for their buck. Fortunately they will be in Nanaimo on a Friday, meaning they will be able to find something of interest in the new Friday Night Market which is starting this May.
