Heartbleed Bug - What Can You Do?

A bug which has existed for about two years now poses enough of a threat that the Canada Revenue Agency has closed down their website. In a nutshell, any site using a certain software which was intended to protect information being sent on the internet, has a vulnerability which could allow the bad guys to capture data such as passwords etc. giving access to accounts you thought were protected.

This bug has existed for about two years likely without incident, but since the announcement this week there are signs that the bad guys are actively harvesting data. This can even apply to banks and other institutions you may have thought were secure.

To learn more about this bug and what you can do to protect yourself check out this article on 'Krebs on Security'.

If you want to check and see if a site is at risk, go to this website and type in the url of the site you wish checked.
