B.C. Camping Reservations Online

Online Camping Reservation Service

The B.C. government is launching its enhanced Discover Camping reservation service on April 1, with several new service and efficiency improvements, announced Environment Minister Barry Penner.

“Starting April 1, when you make your reservation online or at our call centre you will notice a number of new improvements,” said Penner. “For the first time in B.C., people will be able to make specific reservations for individual campsites, next to their favourite trail, near the beach or next to their friends or family.”

With the new service, campers will be able to book double sites in a single reservation to guarantee that families or friends can camp together. The new online reservation service is more user-friendly, with a step-by-step process on an easy-to-use website. It is expected to reduce gatehouse and check-in line-ups at campsites, since campers will have chosen their sites ahead of time.

Under this new service, there will be four more parks available for reservations, raising the total number of reservable parks from 68 to 72. This is one of the improvements being made as the „Parks 100‟ celebration approaches, marking the 100th birthday of BC Parks in 2011.

The Discover Camping phone number and web address stay the same: visit
www.discovercamping.ca or call 1-800 689-9025 to make campsite reservations. Overseas callers may call 519 826-6850.

The call centre hours will be Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. PST, and Saturday, Sunday and holidays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PST.

“I encourage everyone to get outside this summer and enjoy the beauty and natural wonders of BC Parks,” said Penner.

Since 2001, the B.C. government has invested $70 million in capital improvements for BC Parks, including upgrades to drinking water systems, washrooms and picnic areas.

The B.C. government has established 58 new parks, 143 conservancies, two ecological reserves and nine protected areas, and expanded approximately 60 parks and six ecological reserves, protecting more than 1.9 million hectares of additional land since 2001.

Today, a total of 14.26 per cent (more than 13.5 million hectares) of British Columbia is protected – more than any other province in Canada.
