New School District $24,000 Logo

Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools (School District #68) has unveiled it's new corporate identity as shown above.

According to the districts website:

"Our school district is diverse, aspirational, nurturing, creative, environmental"

The image chosen as their new identity is supposed to represent these qualities in a new visual identity which was created by a Vancouver firm for the low, low price of only $24,000 if memory serves.

I am pretty certain the graphics students living right here in Nanaimo could have produced an equally acceptable logo for a fraction of the cost. However, they may not have been able to put together all the explanations as to why this is truly a high quality design which will successfully brand the school district, and set it apart from the field of competition in the local market.

That was the purpose of the re-branding, wasn't it?
