Live Music Downtown Lunchtime Aug. 2013

Every Thursday at China Steps and Friday in Diana Krall Plaza 11:30am-2pm from August 8-30th, the DNBIA would like folks to come out, bring their lunch and listen to some live, local music. Tables and chairs will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
For your convenience downtown restaurants have prepared “to-go” lunch specials that you can order before hand and bring down to enjoy while listening to some great live music.

August 8th at China Steps 11:30 am-2:00 pm: Jeffrey Randle

Bio: I grew up on Vancouver Island. My musical style comes from my Canadian roots. My dad played the fiddle and he got me started on the guitar when I was 6.

My influences are many. My own style of playing reflects only a handful but the very first record I got when I was a kid was a Johnny Cash record. Writing simple from the heart songs comes natural to me. My songs do reflect my roots but they are also expressions of my present journey through life as I do draw from my experiences along the way.

August 9th at Diana Krall Plaza 11:30 am-2:00 pm: Herbicidal Maniacs

BIO: In the beginning Cultivated on the edge of the continent… Not far as the crow flies… From the big smoke or endless surf…Grounded in the folk/rock genre of the 1960’s and 70’s…the HERBICIDAL MANIACS take root!
Who are they….and what do they want?
The HERBICIDAL MANIACS is the combined efforts of long –time Nanaimo Musicians Steve Palen, Dan Dube, and Brent Redberger to showcase their musical endeavours!
