CLOCKS GO AHEAD: In case you missed it, this is the weekend you turn your clocks ahead one hour on Saturday night, or first thing Sunday morning, as Daylight Saving Time kicks in.


Fiddle Camp: Nanaimo Conservatory of Music's Fiddle Camp comes to Nanoose Bay March 24 - 27. Registrants come from as far away as Saskatoon and Toronto. Registration deadline is March 17. The camp offers three days of fiddle, piano, guitar, vocal and mandolin instruction for beginners to advanced. The $345 fee includes 12 hours of group instruction by well known teachers. Super Spring Singing Workshop: Doug Dodd and Manda Chelmak of Headliners School for Performing Arts at 165 Fraser Street are offering two workshops over spring break. March 14 - 18 for ages 9 and up involves 20 hours of musical instruction, concluding with an on stage performance concert. The registration fee of $250 includes music, lyric sheets, rehearsal CD's and a daily snack break. The also offer a Singer/Songwriter workshop for ages 12 and up from March 21 - 25. Strike Affects City Buses: Regional transit buses do not enter the strike bound VIU but are still running their regular routes but are not stopping at the University. The #15 VIU Connector has a temporary stop at the Super Save gas station on Wakesiah Avenue.
