Public Art Week In Nanaimo

Breaching Orca by Carl Sean McMahon

The week of May 9 - May 16 has been declared 'Public Art Week' in the city of Nanaimo and during this week Nanaimo will see 8 new pieces of temporary public art installed in three city parks.

The above work by Carl McMahon gets an early preview by one of Nanaimo's youngest art critics. The artist will be pleased to know that 'Carter' gives the piece two thumbs up!
Thursday afternoon, May 12th at 4:30 pm the public is invited to come to Maffeo Sutton Park to view the pieces and meet some of the artists and learn about the role of public art in our community.

There are a total of five other pieces installed at Maffeo Sutton Park, one piece at McGregor Park and one piece at the Beban Social Centre in Beban Park.
