School Feeds Kids
This is a reality for many children in the Nanaimo School District and while we should be thankful there are people and organizations in place to help fill this most basic need, we really need to ask ourselves as a society - - - 'what in hell are we doing'.
When did we allow housing for example, to take such a huge bite out of family's pockets, that they can no longer afford to feed our kids before sending them to school?
While city council and staff may tell us how fortunate we are that taxes are only going up 3.6% this year, how much more of a burden do you suppose that is to the family that can't afford a solid breakfast and lunch for their kids?
