The Nanaimo News Bulletin captured top honors for general excellence in the largest circulation category at the Saturday's B.C. and Yukon Community Newspaper Association annual Ma Murray awards.
The judges noted many features which set the Bulletin apart from it's competition including a clean front page, good photography and a complete understanding of events, making the Bulletin a superb newspaper. The judges went on to say that the community news stories are well written and the paper contains many design features which make it a great newspaper to read.
Kudo's To Both Nanaimo Newspapers

Nanaimo residents and businesses alike may not realize how fortunate they are to have two such highly regarded news organizations within the city. It takes a huge effort to produce the caliber of publications both of these companies produce on a daily and three times a week basis.

Both publications provide area residents with a depth of understanding of local issues that should allow residents to take an active, informed role in their community. They also both provide excellent coverage of local sports and community events that contribute greatly to the sense of community one can get living in a city like Nanaimo.

Again, hats off to both organizations and their hard working staff. They clearly are doing an outstanding job and it must give them a true sense of pride to be recognized by their peers.
