Increased Crime In Townsite Area

Police are reporting an increase in theft from vehicles and break and enters in the area of Nanaimo from Wall Street to Boundary Ave. lately. Home owners are reminded to lock all doors and windows and ensure there are no valuables left in vehicles. Be sure to report any suspicious activity to police in a timely fashion.

Recently an unknown male was encountered at 6:45 am at a home in the 500 block of Rosehill St. The home owners son came downstairs to find the stranger rummaging about in the kitchen. The home owners son attempted to apprehend the suspect but failed with the culprit escaping through the sliding glass door.

The culprit is described as being a fair skinned, First Nations male, 18 - 20 years of age approximately 170 pounds. He was wearing a black and grey plaid jacket and blue jeans.
