18th Century Rum Found In Harewood House

Rum bottles

An article in Mail Online caused me to do a double take when I read 12 bottles of 18th century rum were found in the cellar of a Harewood House.

Turns out that in merry old there is also a 'Harewood'. What do you want to bet that is how our neighbourhood got it's name orginally. A few weeks ago while attending the Heritage Summit, Parker Williams made reference to Harewood as having British origins but said perhaps the 'proper' pronunciation was Haaaarwood.

Of course I did have trouble believing that 12 bottles of rum would have lasted in Harewood since 1780!
