Nanaimo City Halls Top Wage Earners

The above comparison, like most information about city hall wages is at least one year out of date, due to the way wages are reported. For example we won't see the 2013 list of city hall wages until likely this June when the SOFI report is released.

The first ranking column compares our city employee's ranking among a total of 10,341 people in the database for the local government sector. In the case of Al Kenning he ranked #49 out of 10,341 in the data base, meaning that in the entire province there were only 48 people earning more.

How exactly are these wages and benefits arrived at? It is a closely guarded secret right up there with how they get the filling in a Caramilk bar. I strongly suspect it will reflect to some degree the wage increase that is 'negotiated' for the CUPE employees and then everyone sits around and decides how much they think each other is worth.

The above list which reflects wage levels for 2012 in the city of Nanaimo shows four people who are no longer working for the city. They included Al Kenning, Douglas Holmes, Ron Lambert and Andrew Tucker. I wonder if we will ever know just how golden their parachutes were?

  1. It's beyond belief! And for all that money, I do not see evidence of amazing vision, or anything at all trail-blazing these people have brought to enhance Nanaimo.

In fact, we residents have to work hard to prevent them from ruining anything unique and valuable beyond measure in our city.
