#ExploreNanaimo Campaign

TOURISM NANAIMO AND NANAIMO AIRPORT
LAUNCH NEW #EXPLORENANAIMO CAMPAIGN

With an expected 4000 visitors coming to Nanaimo for the 2014 BC Summer Games, Tourism Nanaimo and the Nanaimo Airport are engaging locals and visitors to share their favourite places and experiences in the region. The brand-new “#ExploreNanaimo” campaign microsite www.explorenanaimobc.com showcases content contributed by residents of the Nanaimo region, allows visitors to get the inside scoop on what to do, see and experience, and connects them to exclusive #ExploreNanaimoOffers deals. This is a great way to create raving fans and advocates for our stunning destination!

The #ExploreNanaimo campaign launched the first week of July, and will continue until July 20th (and beyond). The microsite www.explorenanaimobc.com aggregates social content from Twitter & Instagram tagged with #ExploreNanaimo, and is also be fed by Tourism Nanaimo’s Facebook & Pinterest ExploreNanaimo pages. The site also features a “Create your own postcard” function, with which visitors can select from a variety of photos & captions, and send a little Nanaimo to everyone they know!

There will be weekly prize giveaways and a Grand Prize for a GoPro camera, as well as some bonus prizing for sharing content, overall engagement & use of the hashtag.

Local Nanaimo & Region businesses are encouraged to participate in the campaign by tagging offers and deals promoted through their own social media channels with the #ExploreNanaimoOffers tag. Using this tag will aggregate the offers onto the campaign website. There’s also a prize available for the best stakeholder engagement in the campaign as well as an incentive for our local businesses to get on board. Businesses can download the campaign toolkit at www.tourismnanaimo.com/stakeholders
