PACK UP THE KIDS, FILL THE COOLER
AND HEAD FOR THE BEACH!
There are no shortage of favourite swimmin' holes in Nanaimo, which is one of it's many charms.
There is Swy-a-lana lagoon downtown, Departure Bay Beach and Pipers Lagoon Park to name some popular ocean spots.
If freshwater is to your liking there are too many to list here, but Westwood Lake, Colliery Dam and Long Lake are among the most popular. There is of course Nanaimo River, but be sure to use extreme caution if this is your choice.
In addition there are many 'water parks' for the kids scattered throughout Nanaimo,
If you are trying to keep the house cool, you might do as I do. I open the doors and windows first thing while the air is still cool, and then close everything up, including drapes for the rest of the day.
It is amazing how cool this keeps the house, even without air conditioning!
