Prior to the Nanaimo Great Bathtub Race and Marine Festival activities at Maffeo-Sutton Park and Swy-A-Lana Lagoon; city crews were hard at work cleaning up debris which always comes in on the high tides.
Aside from removing logs, bark and other floating debris, the sand was thoroughly raked and groomed to ensure everyones enjoyment.
Of course, the lagoon isn't only popular on bathtub weekend, it is popular throughout the summer months with young and old alike.
If it has been awhile since you have enjoyed a stroll along the waterfront and visited Swy-a-lana Lagoon, be sure to drop down this week, as the weatherman is being most co-operative, and the watferfront is one of Nanaimo's hidden jewels.
