Cst Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP, coordinator of the Block Watch program will be on hand to give a short presentation on the program and will be available afterwards to answer your questions. Several auxiliary police officers will also be on hand to assist you and answer questions.

“Statistically after setting up a Block Watch in your neighborhood ,crime will reduce by 50 percent. As well, you will get to know your neighbors and have some fun in the process. In the past six months there have been eight block watches set up throughout Nanaimo. All participants in the program have since expressed a sense of wellness and security in their respective communities and their only regret is not starting one earlier, said Constable Gary O’Brien Media spokesperson for the Nanaimo RCMP.
